Where to spend your time: The “Cue and Cuemakers” category (2,500 threads and 30,000 posts); “playing pool, billiards and snooker” (1,500 threads, 15,000 posts); the “EPT Tour Philippines” category appears to be the largest English language discussion on an Asian tour. (800 threads, 20k posts)
Forum Review
The forum attached to popular tutorial site for those looking to improve their game, EasyPoolTutor’s discussion board got its roots from a user base of pool experts in South East Asia (Philippines and Singapore markets in particular). Therefore, if you are from this area of the world (or are interested in the pro scene in Asia), you can find other such enthusiasts at EasyPoolTutor. Its worth mentioning that all posts must be in English.
The forum has some really interesting thread categories – the ‘how would you play this’ section will be of specific value to newby players, as well as the ‘rules of the game’ and instructional DVD/Books/Vides categories. EasyPoolTutor knows its target market well – the forum categories have a structure to them that supports learning.
The forum is a PhpBB site, and includes a proper search and chat room. A few complaints would be the somewhat intrusive advertising on the site (lots of Google adsense and affiliate ads) and the excessive number of thread categories. However, these are minor issues compared to great information you can find.
The Skinny
EasyPoolTutor is the authority forum on billiards and pool from the Asian continent. Not unlike its parent site, it’s geared towards helping its users learn and improve their game.
Selected user comments about the EasyPoolTutor forum
I think it is very important to have a single place to go for FREE written instruction. The people who have submitted lessons and drills have taken their time to try and help other players. The lessons range from very basic for the beginners to sophticated instruction for the more advanced players. The next item is the quality of the threads and posts of our regular users. There is rarely any verbal jousting among the posters of this site. Content is very good and helpful hints to improve your game are always available.- Don Mattiford
